Committees

The students unions’ day-to-day work is committee driven; these are as follows:

o       The Executive Committee;
o       The Finance Committee;
o       The Union Publications and Entertainments Committee (UPEC) aka Ents and Publications Committee.

All full members of the union (that’s any enrolled student of UEL) is entitled to attend committee meetings of the Students’ Union to see how the union is operating and enable you to see the decisions made in your name.

The Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is the highest decision making body of the students’ union executives, all other committees must report to this committee and all executive officers have membership of this committee.

This committee ultimately sets out the policies of the other committees to which the union acts within as directed by the students as a whole at the general meetings that are held 3 times a year.

The Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is responsible to the Executive committee for all financial matters relating directly to the operation of the union; examples of something which might be discussed at a finance committee would be the purchase of equipment.

This committee does not discuss wages for staff and students’ staff.

Ents and Publications Committee

The Ents committee is responsible to the Executive committee for the public face of the union and how the union communicates with students. Much of its work is discussing how the union should increase participation of students in the work of the union.
