Democracy.

As a student-led body, UELSU has a duty to be as open and as accountable to student opinion as possible. The Union has developed a system of democratic structures over the years, designed to put as much control as possible into your hands. But for those systems to work, students need to have both an awareness of their existence and an understanding of how to use them. And in order to hold your representatives properly accountable, you need to have access to information about the work we've done in your name.

Putting Power in Your Hands

UELSU is currently revising its Constitution and this will be available soon for our members to comment on.

Members of the Executive Committee and the Unions sub-committees are now required to report on their work to General Meetings, keeping you informed of what's being done in your name.

This section of the site aims to facilitate your involvement in the democratic process. It provides information on UELSU's democratic structures and how they work, and it provides you with information on what is happening within those structures. Feedback would be both useful and welcome, so if you have any comments on the information provided, or suggestions for improvement please contact the President from any of the Union Offices.
