During the Campaigning period of the UELSU Elections the Candidates get a chance to voice to you, their fellow students, why they wish to represent you. Their fellow students then get the chance to ask the candidates questions.
This forum is called Hustings and they will take place in the following venues on the following days. The idea is for you to meet your candidates so you can make a more informed decision on who to vote for.
To be confirmed in February 2009. Please check site for further details closer to the time.
We will introduce the Candidates by their post: The Executive give their speaches first in the order that they appear in our Constitution. They will each go up in turn to explain why they wish to be General Secretary.
Each full time candidate gets 3 minutes to talk and each part time candidate gets 1 minute 30 seconds to talk.
When all the candidates for that position have finished students may submit questions.
Questions can only be recievde from UEL students and need to be submitted in writing. We will provide pens and paper at the Hustings, you need to provide us with a valid Student ID card before writing the questions.
Questions must be directed to all the candidates for a particular post not to individuals.
For example: You should write 'How does the candidate for Welfare and Education plan to raise student awareness for variable top up fees?'
You have up to three minutes at the end of the speeches for each post to hand in your question (showing your id) before we move onto the next group of candidates.
