QUEER (Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered) unit.

 gay

Most lesbian, gay and bisexual and transgendered students come to university hoping to come out or just express themselves in a comfortable environment.

UELSU runs the LGBT unit to see that needs of lesbian, gay and bisexual students are being fulfilled. The LGBT officer's job is to provide information to students on LGBT needs and issues. Also there are meeting for LGBT students to meet up. At these meeting we decide what the LGBT unit should do i.e. bar nights, awareness days etc.

Unfortunately the position of LGBT officer is presently vacant. This si because no-one ran for the post in the last elections. However this does not mean that you, if you are an LGBT student, will not be represented by UELSU. It is possible to co-opt a student into the role if agreed at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). If you are interested contact UELSU at their offices in Docklands Campus, Stratford Campus or email them or by telephone. Details of how can be found if you Click here.

If you would like any more information on the LGBT unit or advice about LGBT issues you can contact UELSU
